The Story Behind the Print
Eleazer Kempshall’s U.S. Patent 700656, granted May 20, 1902, documents a molded shell blank for a playing ball, with interlocking sections and a patterned surface developed for controlled manufacture and performance.
Spherical sections, surface patterns, and enlarged joints give the sheet a handsome sporting-goods geometry. This restored edition preserves the original patent arrangement in crisp black linework on cool, timeworn rag paper within the collection’s restrained black double rule.
Printed to order on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper with fade-resistant archival pigment inks. A natural piece for club rooms, offices, studies, and collections of golf and sporting history.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
