The Story Behind the Print

Houdini Dies presents the front page of South Bend News-Times, dated November 1, 1926. The death of the world’s most famous escape artist makes the news.

The original masthead, tightly set columns and period typography surround the page's coverage of houdini dies. The complete layout preserves the visual rhythm of daily journalism, including the smaller notices and advertisements that make the page feel immediate and lived in.

The page has been carefully restored for a crisp finished print while retaining its historic printing character. Printed to order with archival inks on heavyweight 325gsm museum-grade matte paper. Choose 12 x 16 or 18 x 24 inches, available as Print Only or ready to hang in Slimwood Silver, Slimwood Gold or Satin Black, with no mat.

A strong fit for libraries, studies, offices, media rooms and collected history walls. Screen settings can affect printed tones, and fine newspaper lettering is best appreciated close up. This is a newly printed archival edition, not an original vintage newspaper.

About the Frame

Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.

The selected size refers to the artwork itself. Framed orders are custom made and ship within 7 to 10 business days, free in the U.S. See our shipping and return policies for framed piece details.

“Beautiful! The print exceeded my expectations. I had it framed locally, and the framer commented on the high quality of the paper. Well packaged to prevent damage. Will shop with this vendor again.”
“We bought the American flamingo framed print. I absolutely love it! Justin was super helpful with the shipping-we live in Hong Kong and these things and I was worried the glass etc may be damaged in shipping-but it arrived in perfect condition. Very happy customer, can highly recommend.”
“This is a beautifully reproduced Audubon print. It has depth of color and fabulous detail. The additional detail in the background makes it look like a real print and not like a reproduction. I've seen many original Audubon prints at Wilson Library at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and this reproduction is extraordinary.”
