The Story Behind the Print

This luna moon print is a museum quality reproduction of J. & G. Pickett's astronomical illustration from 1829. The period lettering and distinctive visual character of the historical work are preserved in this edition.

A pale, finely marked Moon floats against a dark field of small stars. Blue-green drapery across the top and slender classical columns at the sides form an ornamental stage around the lunar disc. The combination of engraved surface detail and theatrical framing gives this Luna illustration a more intimate character than a conventional large star map.

Part of the decorative Astronomia series, this piece can stand on its own or join a coordinated group of planetary subjects. Its architectural ornament offers a different approach to celestial art from a conventional constellation map.

A considered choice for a study, library, home office, or a gallery wall devoted to the night sky. Pair it with related celestial prints for a coordinated group, or let its particular subject provide a focal point among books and natural-history objects.

Premium Archival Quality

Printed on heavyweight museum grade matte paper for fine art presentation. The matte surface suits the delicate linework, period lettering, and tonal detail of this historical illustration. Each offered size has its own prepared print file and a balanced paper border.

Available Sizes and Frames

Available in 8 × 10 inches. Choose Print Only or Satin Black, Slimwood Silver, or Slimwood Gold framing. Sizes refer to the complete paper, including the border. Framed prints have no mat and arrive ready to hang; the frame adds to the outside dimensions. Display props are not included.

A Thoughtful Gift

A thoughtful gift for an astronomy enthusiast, science teacher, or collector of vintage celestial illustration. The specific historical subject makes it a personal choice for a birthday, housewarming, or a well-used reading space.

Color and Detail Note

Colors and tones may vary slightly with screen settings. Fine historical lettering is best appreciated close up. This is a newly made physical art print, not an original historical sheet.

Professionally restored and printed on museum grade materials.
