The Story Behind the Print

Tafel 62 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Nepenthaceae, Kannenpflanzen (pitcher plants).. The plate is printed in full color on a cream ground, in pinks, reds, olive greens and orange, with the heading Tafel 62 — Nepenthes above and the title below.

Pitcher plants fill the panel, their tall, ribbed pitchers fringed along the mouth and mottled in pink and red. Lids, buds and small bell-shaped flowers hang between them, and curling tendrils wind through the foliage. A pale, upright pitcher with a yellow-green lid stands at the top center, with a spotted, brown pitcher at the left and a tall pink pitcher at the right.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
