The Story Behind the Print

Tafel 19 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Pennatulida and captioned Federkorallen. The plate is printed in a single warm sepia on cream paper.

A tall, many-armed polyp, numbered 1, sits at the centre with ribbed arms and a bent stem, while a long, braided cord numbered 2 loops around the plate in a large arc. Numbered details surround them: a tentacled crown at the upper left, a rosette at the upper right, a feathery quill-shaped colony at the lower right and clusters of small polyps below. The numbers run to 12.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame

Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
