The Story Behind the Print

This 1967 nautical chart of Pensacola Bay is U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey chart 490, drawn at 1:30,000 with soundings in feet. The city's tight street grid sits on warm stone-tan land above a bay of pale blue shoals, and the long sand ribbons of Santa Rosa Island and Perdido Key hold back a white Gulf.

Lettered on the sheet are Pensacola, Warrington, East Pensacola Heights, Gulf Breeze and Pensacola Beach, with Escambia Bay, East Bay, Santa Rosa Sound, Big Lagoon and Bayous Grande, Chico and Texar. Fort Pickens, Fort McRee, Town Point and Butcherpen Cove stand around the pass to the Gulf of Mexico. Notes mark a prohibited area around a turning basin and shipping safety fairways across the bay.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, ensuring your vintage nautical chart will maintain its maritime heritage for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.

About the Frame

Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.

The selected size refers to the artwork itself. Framed orders are custom made and ship within 7 to 10 business days, free in the U.S. See our shipping and return policies for framed piece details.
