The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Bewick's Wren print reproduces plate 18 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and woodland gallery walls.
A small brown wren stands on a broken branch with its barred tail raised. Green leaves curl around the textured wood, while fine wing markings and a pale stripe above the eye distinguish the bird within the spare botanical arrangement.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece; the print will always be richer in person.
About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
