The Story Behind the Print
This Ruffed Grouse bird print reproduces plate 41 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. Three grouse gather among broad leaves, berries and fallen timber.
One bird raises its tail and spreads a pale wing; another turns upward beneath it, while a third stands in front of the logs. The original folio number, plate label, species title and engraving credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece; the print will always be richer in person.
About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
