The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Cow Pen Bird print reproduces plate 99 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and nature-inspired gallery walls.
Two birds lean toward one another across a mossy patch of ground. The brown bird at left contrasts with the chestnut head and glossy blue-black plumage of its companion, whose long tail rises above the composition. Delicate grasses, tiny flowers and the original engraved title give this horizontal plate its quiet natural-history character.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
