The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Rough-legged Falcon print reproduces plate 166 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, prepared as historical wall art for a study, library or natural-history gallery wall.
A dark-winged rough-legged falcon bends from a forked bare branch toward a smaller black-and-red bird held below. Its pale flight feathers, patterned breast, yellow eye and talons contrast with the weathered trunk. The original folio number, Plate CLXVI, species caption and engraving credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
