The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Foolish Guillemot print reproduces plate 218 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, prepared as historical wall art for a study, library or natural-history gallery wall.
Two dark guillemots rest on a gray shore beside breaking water: an upright bird shows a bright white eye line and pale breast, while the second raises an open bill. Layered slate feathers, black webbed feet, pale surf and the engraved 'Foolish Guillemot' caption distinguish the scene. The original plate number, figure labels and engraved credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame

Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
