The Story Behind the Print
This vintage American Snipe print reproduces plate 243 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, prepared as historical wall art for a study, library or natural-history gallery wall.
Three long-billed snipes gather among reeds beside blue-gray water. One bird lifts its bill at the left, while two crouch near the bank; trees and a farmhouse with chimney smoke sit across the water. The original No. 49, Plate CCXLIII, species caption, South Carolina inscription and engraved credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
