The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Hudsonian Godwit print reproduces plate 258 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and natural-history gallery walls.
Two long-billed godwits rest on a low earth bank. The left bird reclines with warm rust-orange underparts and one wing raised, while the right stands in gray-brown plumage with crossed wing feathers, a pale throat and blue-gray legs. Their alert eyes and precise feather engraving give the horizontal composition vivid ornithological character.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
