The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Frigate Pelican print reproduces plate 271 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, prepared as historical wall art for a study, library or natural-history gallery wall.
The dark, blue-green-edged frigatebird plunges headfirst across the sheet, its spread wings, forked tail, hooked bill and two pink feet creating a dramatic airborne portrait. The original No. 55, Plate CCLXXI, Frigate Pelican caption, Latin name, male-adult note and engraved credits remain with the artwork.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
