The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Fork-tailed Gull print reproduces plate 285 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, prepared as historical wall art for a study, library or natural-history gallery wall.
A pale gray gull stands on a shoreline rock above a smaller brown-patterned bird. Painted clouds, blue water, a wooded far bank, sand and scattered shells complete the coastal scene. The original No. 57, Plate CCLXXXV, Forked-tailed Gull caption, species lettering and engraved credits remain with the artwork.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
