The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Spotted Sandpiper print reproduces plate 310 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, prepared as historical wall art for a study, library or natural-history gallery wall.
Two spotted shorebirds forage on opposite banks of a narrow stream. The bird at left leans over a low rock with its bill extended; the bird at right steps across a sandy edge and lowers its bill toward the water. Reeds, fallen branches, a pale distant tree line and softly colored water surround them. The original No. 62, Plate CCCX, Spotted Sandpiper caption, Latin name, male and female labels and engraving credits remain on the sheet.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
