The Story Behind the Print
This Gannet bird print reproduces plate 326 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. An adult and a young gannet rest together on a rocky coast.
The adult lifts its pale ochre head and long bill above the darker, speckled young bird. White wing feathers, webbed feet, patterned waves, a gray sky and distant flying birds fill the scene. The original No. 66, Plate CCCXXVI, Gannet title, Latin name and engraved credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
