The Story Behind the Print
This Long-legged Avocet bird print reproduces plate 328 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. A single long-legged wading bird searches the rocky shore.
Its black upperparts and white neck stand against a blue-gray painted sky and water. A fine dark bill points toward the shallows while one red leg is lifted and the other rests among the stones. The original No. 66, Plate CCCXXVIII, Long-legged Avocet title, historical Latin name and engraved credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
