The Story Behind the Print
This Audubon bird print reproduces plate 385 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. The original engraving identifies Bank Swallow and Violet-green Swallow.
Swallows animate the composition: two skim the open blue sky above, one crosses before the sandy cliff, another approaches a nesting hole, and two peer from a burrow. The contrast between delicate, sharply engraved wings and the weathered bank gives this plate a lively sense of movement. Its original folio, plate number, species captions and engraved credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
