The Story Behind the Print
This Audubon bird print reproduces plate 400 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. Its engraved captions identify the Arkansaw Siskin, Mealy Red-poll, Louisiana Tanager, Townsend's Finch and Buff-breasted Finch.
Five birds appear at different heights across a painted landscape of foliage, shore and open sky. Their contrasting plumage and perches give the composition its rhythm. The original folio, Plate CCCC mark, figure numbers, five species captions and engraved credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
