The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Eared Grebe print reproduces plate 404 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and waterside gallery walls.
Two grebes rest beside quiet blue-green water and tall reeds. The left bird displays golden ear plumes, a red eye and rich chestnut coloring, while its upright companion has a pale throat and an upward-pointing bill. Their green lobed feet and finely patterned feathers stand out against the dark bank. Distant hills, original species lettering and engraved credits complete this detailed wetland composition.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
