The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Semipalmated Sandpiper print reproduces plate 405 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and coastal gallery walls.
Two shorebirds occupy a sandy bank scattered with pink, cream and brown shells. One leans toward rippling blue-green water while the other stands above it, showing russet-edged dark feathers and slender gray legs. Pale distant hills and a dark rocky foreground give the horizontal scene its depth. The open space above the birds, original species title and engraved credits preserve the character of the plate.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
