The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Prairie Starling print reproduces plate 420 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and nature-inspired gallery walls.
Two birds perch among slender branches tipped with pale green buds. Above, a brown, finely streaked female angles downward; below, a deep blue-black male displays a vivid red shoulder patch and long dark tail. Their opposing poses give the spacious composition movement while the original specimen number, engraved title and credits retain the character of the plate.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
