The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Audubon bird print reproduces plate 424 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries and botanical gallery walls.
Seven birds gather on branching limbs dotted with pale green buds. Blue feathers, a crimson breast, rose-pink wing markings and touches of yellow stand out against finely patterned brown, black and cream plumage. Their varied poses and delicately engraved feet give the tall arrangement a lively rhythm. The original captions name Lazuli Finch, Crimson-necked Bull-finch, Gray-crowned Linnet, Cow-pen Bird, Evening Grosbeak and Brown Longspur.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
