The Story Behind the Print
Eastern oyster — American Marine Conchology, Plate 41
This fine art print reproduces Plate 41 from George W. Tryon's American Marine Conchology, published in 1873. The hand-colored composition depicts Ostrea virginiana among the marine mollusks named in the original book. The plate's historical lettering and figure numbers are retained. One or more depicted species have documented Cape Cod relevance.
Printed to order on archival matte fine art paper. Available in 8 × 12 and 10 × 15 inches. The selected size is the complete artwork. Choose Print Only or a ready-to-hang Slimwood Silver, Slimwood Gold, or Satin Black frame. Framed pieces are supplied without a mat.
Colors may vary slightly with screen settings. Historical species names on the plate are preserved as printed.
About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
