The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 73 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Ascomycetes, Schlauchpilze (sac fungi).. The plate is printed in white and grey line on a black panel, with Haeckel's heading and the plate number above and the title below.
Fungi are drawn as lacy, star-like colonies and stalked fruiting bodies. Two radiating forms with a central dot and branching arms sit at the upper center and center, with trailing threads and clusters of round spores at the upper left and upper right. Cup-shaped and open fruiting bodies fill the middle and lower center, and small leafy sprigs sit at the lower left.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
