The Story Behind the Print

Tafel 56 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Copepoda and captioned Ruderkrebse. Finely drawn crustaceans are tinted in orange, red, yellow and blue-green against the cream paper, under the heading and above the caption.

Eight numbered copepods are arranged symmetrically. A small crustacean with fan-like orange tail feathers spreads across the top, and a larger central one has long orange-barbed limbs reaching out to either side. Along the lower edge are compact forms with red, yellow and blue-green markings, including one with a pair of blue egg sacs. Thin antennae and bristles are drawn individually.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
