The Story Behind the Print
This 1958 nautical chart of Baltimore Harbor, Maryland, is U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey chart 545, drawn on a Mercator projection at 1:15,000 with soundings in feet at mean low water. Khaki-taupe land, dense with city streets and rail yards, frames pale blue shoals and white dredged channels, with grey compass roses.
Lettered on the sheet are Baltimore, Canton, Highlandtown, Dundalk, Sparrows Point, Curtis Bay, Brooklyn, Fairfield, Westport, Cherry Hill, Hudson Heights and Brooks Hill, with the Patapsco River, Northwest Harbor, Middle Branch, Bear Creek, Curtis Creek and Arundel Cove. Fort McHenry, Fort Carroll, Hawkins Point and Locust Point mark the shore. Channel depth tables, a tidal table and an anchorage areas key fill the margins.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, ensuring your vintage nautical chart will maintain its maritime heritage for generations.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
