The Story Behind the Print

This striking advertisement for Cognac Gautier Frères captures the sophisticated world of French spirits marketing in the early 20th century. Founded in 1755, Gautier is one of the oldest cognac houses in the Charente region, and their advertising reflected the prestige and heritage that French distillers cultivated during the golden age of poster art.

The design embodies the elegant commercial artistry that flourished in France between the wars, when luxury brands commissioned beautiful vintage poster art to distinguish themselves in an increasingly competitive market. Cognac houses like Gautier competed not just on taste, but on image — positioning their products as symbols of French refinement and joie de vivre.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant inks and museum-quality giclée printing technology for exceptional color accuracy and longevity.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.

About the Frame
