The Story Behind the Print

This 1876 Franklin, Massachusetts map print sets the town in a pale hand-brushed sage wash on soft ivory paper, with its winding northern river and railroad for a study or home office.

The map identifies Franklin P.O., Unionville and Wadsworth Station, with Beaver Pond and Uncas Pond left in neutral paper among roads, schools and named properties. The Charles River marks the northern edge; the large engraved Franklin title and compass remain on neutral paper beyond the town outline.
