The Story Behind the Print
This 1873 Marlboro, New Jersey map print shows the township in a pale hand-brushed sage wash on soft ivory paper. Fine property lettering, winding roads and a railroad make it a detailed study piece.
The map names Marlboro P.O., Robertsville, Morganville P.O., Hillsdale, Montrose and Big Woods Settlement, with Middlesex Co., Matawan, Holmdel and Manalapan lettered along its borders. Two ponds keep their original black engraving on neutral paper, and Marlboro business notices fill the lower left.
Archive Print Co. restores each map for clarity while preserving the aged cartographic character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece; the print will always be richer in person.
About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
