The Story Behind the Print

This 1967 nautical chart of Mobile Bay, Alabama, is U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey chart 1266, drawn at 1:80,000 with soundings in feet. Khaki-olive land rises in tight contour lines along the eastern shore, the delta above the city breaks into marsh and winding bayous, and a pale silver bay opens south to the Gulf.

Lettered on the sheet are Mobile, Prichard, Chickasaw, Daphne, Point Clear, Bayou La Batre and Gulf Shores, with the Mobile and Tensaw rivers, Bon Secour Bay, Weeks Bay, Mississippi Sound and the Gulf of Mexico. Dauphin Island and Mon Louis Island lie to the west. Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan face each other across the entrance, and the battleship USS Alabama is lettered beside Pinto Pass.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, ensuring your vintage nautical chart will maintain its maritime heritage for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
