The Story Behind the Print

This 1876 Norwood, Massachusetts map print shows the town in a pale hand-brushed sage wash on soft ivory paper, with the Neponset River winding along its eastern edge and Purgatory Swamp in the northeast.

The map names Norwood P.O. beside the N.Y. & N.E. R.R. and its stations, Purgatory Brook, Hawes Brook, Cranberry Marsh and the Printers Ink Mfy. Dedham, Canton, Sharon and Walpole are lettered along the borders.

Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
