The Story Behind the Print
This Audubon bird print reproduces plate 371 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. The original engraving names the scene Cock of the Plains.
Two birds occupy a low, grassy rise beneath a broad open sky. At right, the displaying bird bends forward with its patterned tail raised and pale throat forms prominent; its companion stands at left. Fine feather markings, red eye accents, the folio, plate number, original title, and engraved credits give the composition its distinctive character.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame

Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
