The Story Behind the Print
This Audubon bird print reproduces plate 394 from John James Audubon's nineteenth-century Birds of America. The original engraving names the Chestnut-coloured Finch, Black-headed Siskin, Black crown Bunting and Arctic Ground Finch.
Five birds occupy a tall composition of fine grasses and a flowering stem. A yellow-and-black bird perches near the top, a streaked bird rests beneath it, and three smaller birds gather around the lower branches. The original plate number, figure markings, four species captions and engraved credits remain visible.
Archive Print Co. restores each illustration for clarity while preserving the character of the original. Each reproduction is printed as a giclée art print on heavyweight 325gsm archival matte paper with archival inks.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
