The Story Behind the Print

This vintage Cairo menu print reproduces an 1896 buffet menu from Abdin Palace in Egypt, restored as historical wall art for dining rooms, studies, libraries, and Egyptian history gallery walls.

Dated February 12, 1896, the menu records a palace ball during the reign of Khedive Abbas II Hilmi. A crowned emblem, blue Menu heading, and fine red French script give the page its ceremonial character. Its sequence of dishes and elegant typography make it a distinctive piece of Cairo dining history.

About the Frame

Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
