The Story Behind the Print

This 1903 Rochester, Massachusetts map print places the town in a pale hand-brushed sage wash on soft ivory paper, with pond shorelines, roads and closely lettered properties for a study or library.

The town map identifies North Rochester, East Rochester and Pierceville, with Snipituet Pond, Great and Little Quitticus ponds, Snows Pond and Marys Pond among its lettered properties. Separate plans of the Village of Rochester, the Village of Rock and the Town of Rockland remain neutral.
