Siphonophorae Print, Tafel 59Ernst Haeckel · c. 1904

Tafel 59 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Siphonophorae and captioned Staatsquallen. The plate is printed in soft aqua and coral red on cream paper, with the heading above and the caption beneath the picture.

A tall, egg-shaped colony with a netted surface hangs at the centre, trailing a dense cascade of red-tipped buds, aqua leaf-like bracts and fine red filaments. Smaller numbered studies surround it: two round discs at the upper corners, two feathered, leaf-shaped swimming bells above, curling tentacle threads at the left and individual polyps in the lower corners.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
