The Story Behind the Print
This vintage Smew or White Nun print reproduces John James Audubon's illustration from Birds of America, plate 347, restored as historical wall art for studies, libraries, and natural history collections.
A black-and-white smew banks overhead while a chestnut-headed bird floats below. Spread wings and sharply patterned plumage stand out against dark water, rocky shores, and a distant mountainous landscape.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
