The Story Behind the Print
Thomas A. Edison’s U.S. Patent 589168, granted August 31, 1897, documents a motion-picture camera mechanism that advances perforated film intermittently behind the lens for a sequence of photographic exposures.
Camera elevations, sprockets, film paths, and shutter details create a dense mechanical portrait of early cinema. This restored edition preserves the original patent arrangement in crisp black linework on cool, timeworn rag paper within the collection’s restrained black double rule.
Printed to order on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper with fade-resistant archival pigment inks. A natural piece for screening rooms, studios, offices, and collections of film and photographic history.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
