The Story Behind the Print
Alexander P. Ashbourne’s U.S. Patent 170,460, granted November 30, 1875, records Alexander P. Ashbourne’s spring-loaded biscuit cutter, designed to cut a group of evenly shaped biscuits and release them from the plate.
A broad cutter plate, shaped biscuit openings, spring handle, and side view produce a crisp culinary-mechanical composition. This restored edition preserves the original Patent Office arrangement in crisp black linework on cool, timeworn rag paper within the collection’s restrained black double rule.
Printed to order on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper with fade-resistant archival pigment inks. A natural piece for offices, libraries, workshops, and collections of invention and industrial design.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
