The Story Behind the Print

This 1967 nautical chart of Block Island Sound, Point Judith to Montauk Point, was issued by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey for the waters between the Rhode Island shore, Block Island and the tip of Long Island. Warm land tones and pale water give the sheet the calm, practical look of a working mariner's chart.

Block Island Sound fills this sheet from the Rhode Island shore at Watch Hill and Westerly across to Point Judith, with Block Island and its Great Salt Pond in the lower half and Montauk Point at the left edge. Depth soundings cover the whole sound, with the submarine transit lanes, cable areas and lettered operating areas drawn over the open water, and four compass roses spread across the chart.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, ensuring your vintage nautical chart will maintain its maritime heritage for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
