The Story Behind the Print

This 1969 nautical chart of Estero Bay was issued by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey for the central California coast around Morro Bay. Warm land tones and pale water give the sheet the calm, practical look of a working mariner's chart.

Estero Bay on the central California coast fills this sheet from Point Estero and Cayucos in the north, past Morro Rock and the town of Morro Bay, to Point Buchon and the headlands running down to San Luis Obispo Bay at the bottom corner. A large inset at the top right carries Morro Bay harbor at larger scale with its channel, sand spit and the town grid, and the Pacific fills the left side with soundings in fathoms, cable lines and three compass roses, two on the main chart and one in the inset.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, ensuring your vintage nautical chart will maintain its maritime heritage for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.

About the Frame
