The Story Behind the Print

Tafel 86 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Decapoda, Zehnfußkrebse (ten-footed crustaceans).. The plate is printed in white line on a black panel, with Haeckel's heading and the plate number above and the title below.

Crabs fill the top of the panel, including a heavily spined spider crab at the center and a long-legged crab at the upper right. Across the middle, two long-feelered shrimp face each other. The bottom row holds a squat lobster with long antennae at the left, a hermit-style crab with a rounded abdomen at the center and a spiny crab at the right.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
