The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 74 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), published in 1904, titled Orchideae and captioned Venusblumen. White, blush pink, burgundy, yellow and green orchids are drawn in colour on a soft olive ground.
A dense arrangement of orchids unfolds across the plate. A large white bloom with a frilled, yellow-throated lip sits at the centre, with pink blooms with deep crimson lips above and below it and a white-and-burgundy one at the upper right. Curling, spotted petals and slender sprays of pale flowers extend at the top, a brown and yellow spotted bloom sits at the left, and small yellow flowers cluster at the foot among green leaves.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
