The Story Behind the Print

Tafel 18 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Discomedusae and captioned Scheibenquallen. The plate is printed in cool blue-green line on cream paper.

Jellyfish are drawn from several angles and numbered. A rosette-shaped medusa, numbered 1, is seen from above in the centre, with eight lobes and curling tentacles. Bells seen from the side hang at the upper and middle left and right, with long, frilled oral arms. A wide, flat bell stretches across the lower middle, flanked by two round discs, one ringed with tentacles.

Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece — the print will always be richer.
