The Story Behind the Print
Emile Berliner’s U.S. Patent 372,786, granted November 8, 1887, describes Emile Berliner’s gramophone and the lateral-groove recording and reproducing arrangement developed for disc records.
The recording drum, crank, stylus, and grooved surfaces create one of the set’s most sculptural sound-technology sheets. This restored edition preserves the original Patent Office arrangement in crisp black linework on cool, timeworn rag paper within the collection’s restrained black double rule.
Printed to order on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper with fade-resistant archival pigment inks. A natural piece for offices, libraries, workshops, and collections of invention and industrial design.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece—the print will always be richer.
