The Story Behind the Print
Tafel 54 from Ernst Haeckel's Kunstformen der Natur (1904), titled Gamochonia and captioned Trichterkraken. Cephalopods are drawn in pale gold, cream and soft blue on the cream paper.
Five numbered cephalopods share the plate. A central squid-like figure with large dark eyes and long looping tentacles is flanked by two others, one with fins and one with a heart-shaped mantle and a fringe of trailing arms. Two octopuses fill the lower corners, one seen from above with curling suckered arms and one from beneath with a rounded, dark body.
Printed on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper using fade-resistant giclée printing with archival inks, preserving the detail and character of the original for generations.

About the Frame
Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.
