The Story Behind the Print
George Westinghouse Jr.’s U.S. Patent 124,405, granted March 5, 1872, records George Westinghouse’s steam-powered railway brake device and the piston, valve, and cylinder relationships that made coordinated train braking practical.
Long cylinders, valve sections, and a compact mechanical detail give the sheet the authority of a railway engineering plate. This restored edition preserves the original Patent Office arrangement in crisp black linework on cool, timeworn rag paper within the collection’s restrained black double rule.
Printed to order on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper with fade-resistant archival pigment inks. A natural piece for offices, libraries, workshops, and collections of invention and industrial design.
Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece—the print will always be richer.
