We restore and reproduce forgotten masterworks of graphic design on museum-grade paper — so they can live on your walls instead of in an archive.

The Story Behind the Print

Mary E. Walton’s U.S. Patent 221,880, granted November 18, 1879, describes Mary E. Walton’s locomotive-chimney apparatus for directing sparks, ash, and foul gases into a water tank instead of the open air.

The monumental chimney section and water tank read like a restrained locomotive-engineering elevation. This restored edition preserves the original Patent Office arrangement in crisp black linework on cool, timeworn rag paper within the collection’s restrained black double rule.

Printed to order on 325gsm museum-grade archival matte paper with fade-resistant archival pigment inks. A natural piece for offices, libraries, workshops, and collections of invention and industrial design.

Colors may vary slightly between screens and the finished piece—the print will always be richer.

About the Frame

Framed pieces are built to order in solid wood with clear acrylic glazing, dry-mounted artwork, a kraft paper dust cover, and hanging wire. Each piece arrives ready to hang. No mat. Satin Black has a 7/8-inch face and adds 1.25 inches to the total width and height. Slimwood Silver and Slimwood Gold have a 1 1/8-inch face and add 1.75 inches to the total width and height.

The selected size refers to the artwork itself. Framed orders are custom made and ship within 7 to 10 business days, free in the U.S. See our shipping and return policies for framed piece details.

This was a gift for my brother and he absolutely loves it, the print is beautiful! Justin was wonderful to work with - we asked to exchange the first print we ordered because we decided we wanted the framed version, and he was so accommodating and made the process super easy. Fantastic experience!
